I've ordered from Kaviso a number of times - everything on time and as expected. I've never had to engage customer service, so can't say anything about their customer service, but making sure your customers don't need to reach out to customer service is a stellar business model!

These are really nice trekking poles, but with one important caveat - DO NOT store them wet. I did so and the aluminum corroded and the poles froze in the closed position. I researched remedies and tried everything - one pole freed up, but the other did not. I eventually got it apart, but cracked the aluminum in the middle section. Ugh! Despite that, I purchase a second pair to replace the first, because they are so light and work so well. I should clarify - I rarely hike with trekking poles and mostly only do so when packing a really heavy pack (that is, about once per year packing elk or deer meat out of the Colorado high country); otherwise, I just use them as tent poles for my Durston Xmid tent (which is an awesome tent!). I think that for the price, these poles are an amazing value.

Was between sizes with a 19” torso. Went with the large.

I ordered this a while back, before I had my gear dialed in, and wasn’t a fan carrying around 25 pounds total. Once I got my summer base weight down to 9.5 pounds and my shoulder-season base weight to 12.6, it was an absolute game changer.

I can’t do frameless packs, and HMG’s no-load-lifter thing doesn’t work for me. If you’ve gotten your load down into the UL or very lightweight range but still want a framed pack that won’t completely swallow your gear—leaving everything shifting around inside a bunch of extra fabric—look no further.

I was considering buying an Arc Haul 40 since I already have the 50 for bear-canister hikes, but that felt like some expensive redundancy. I’m glad I went with the Kakwa instead. Both packs shine in their own ways, and for the price, the Kakwa is extremely well thought out and well made.

My only gripe is that when you’re fully loaded with bottles during the summer, the small stash pocket is basically rendered useless.

This is my second Kakwa40 pack. I got my first one when they were first released several years ago and really liked it. I used it just recently hiking the TMB for 11 days. I like the light weight of it, but during the hike the material started to tear where the right hip belt attaches to the pocket. I contacted Kaviso and was answered by "Dana" who worked with me to obtain a new pack for a discount, even though mine was out of the warranty period. This new one has some improvements: Better lash points, a bigger pocket, and different material. I can't wait to try it out. Thans Kaviso and Dana.
