The Kwaiken design by American knife designer Lucas Burnley is a true icon among a sea of modern folders. Immediately recognizable as part of this storied lineage, the Kwaiken Air and Kwaiken Air Mini are slim, minimalist gentlemen’s knives that simply disappear into your pocket. But don’t let that fool you - these blades punch well above their weight class.
PURPLE RAIN PROPER
For our spin on this timeless design, we drew inspiration from a juxtaposition of concepts – tactical tools and sophisticated, high end materials, in refined purple and black. Fit for a Prince, guitar toting or otherwise, the Kwaiken Air and Kwaiken Air Mini are outfitted in Exclusive Purple Rain carbon fiber scales made by our friends at Fat Carbon.
VG-10 STEEL BLADE
The Kwaiken Air and Kwaiken Air Mini are equipped with VG-10 steel blades with an HRC of 58-60. The outstanding hardness scores are coupled with more practical features like ease of sharpening and good edge retention. For the Purple Rain Kwaikens, the VG-10 blades are coated in stealthy black and deployed via a subtle flipper tab catching a ride on ball bearings. Snappy out of the box and ready for fidgeting.

ABOUT THE DESINGER
Always fascinated by the wilderness, stories of survival, and action movies, Lucas Burnley decided to make his passion a reality in 2003 when he founded Burnley Knives. With the bulk of his experience derived from trial and error, Burnley has earned a reputation as a reliable craftsman by combining elements of classic knives with an emphasis on modern materials. “To me knives are a personal expression of independence and self reliance,” he says. “Starting with raw materials, I’m able to create intrinsically useful and aesthetically pleasing tools and objects of pride that can be used and passed down for generations."
